Everyone hates bills, especially when we have to pay them. For many people, thinking of bills will cause them to erupt in cold sweats. Many people also feel that they should not have to pay for necessities like food, water and shelter.
However, sadly we have to pay for those things and when we do not we suffer, especially in terms of credit.
It is important to remember that not paying bills will cause your credit score to go down, and keep going down until you make the attempts to pay off the bills on a regular basis.
Bills are one of the most important aspects of your credit history, yet they are also an aspect that most people seem to totally forget about when it comes to their credit. For them, they see credit as credit cards, loans and mortgages, not the cable bill.
Look at it this way, for every month that your bills are late, your credit goes down a few notches. If the next month you pay on time and do so for a few months, your credit goes back up, but if you continue missing payments, your credit rating will begin to spiral down like a popped balloon.
When you are paying your bills, you are not required to pay the maximum, but at least the minimum payments. Minimum payments are very important because by paying that and no less, you will be able to keep your credit maintained, without worry that it will go down. Usually, minimum payments are nothing more than a small percentage of the overall amount owed.
So please, when you are paying your bills, make sure you not only pay what they ask you, but that you pay it on time.
If you are constantly behind on your cable bill, then maybe it is time to simply get rid of it and stop paying for it on your credit report.
